Ian

Ian Grobler BChD (Stell) 1990 MSc (ULond) MOrth RCS (Edin) 1998

Ian chose orthodontics as a route when he saw the change it made to peoples lives at an early stage as a dentist. Ian received his Masters degree from the University of London and the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. He is registered as a specialist orthodontist with the General Dental Council.

Ian graduated in dentistry from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1990 and practiced general dentistry in Farnham, Surrey for five years. He then committed to a three year full time postgraduate orthodontic training at Guy’s Hospital, Mayday University Hospital and East Surrey Hospital. He opened his first Orthodontic Practice in Epsom in 1999, followed by the Guildford practice in 2004.

Ian is a director of Ortho Progress. Ortho Progress facilitates training days for orthodontic staff and practice principals to combine their resources to progress their practices and share common practice ideas. He divides his time between equally between Epsom and Guildford. Read more

Giulio Pelletti BDS (Rand) 2000 MSc Orth (Warwick) 2012

Giulio graduated with an Msc in orthodontics through Warwick University in 2012.

He graduated in dentistry from the university of the Witwatersrand South Africa in 2000. He subsequently managed the dental wing of the ‘George Masebe Hospital’, a rural Hospital in the northern province of South Africa.
For a year Giulio treated the underprivileged community in the Northern Province before moving to the UK, where he worked as a general dental practitioner with a special interest in Orthodontics. Giulio worked as an Orthodontic assistant under Dr Ian Grobler for three years in Guildford, after which he became a full time associate in the practices. Read more

Mari de Kock BChD (Stell) 1983

Mari joined our orthodontic team in March 2007 and is enjoying the challenges and rewards of working within a specialist practice and particularly working with children.

Mari qualified in dentistry from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1983. She then spent time working in general dental practice in Swakopmund, Namibia, before working as an associate in a general dental practice in Stevenage, Herts, UK.

In 1986 she returned to South Africa as a lecturer in prosthetics at the dental faculty of Stellenbosch University. Whilst there she went on to achieve post graduate diplomas in both Prosthodontic Dentistry and had her own practice in Cape Town limited to Paediatric Dentistry. Read more

Angus Pringle, BDS(Hons) Glasgow 2001 MFDS RCSEd, MSc(Lond), MOrth RCSEd, FDS(Orth) RCSEd

Angus qualified with Honours from Glasgow University in 2001 having achieved numerous distinctions, prizes and awards. Angus fulfilled a life-long ambition to become an Orthodontist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and UCL Eastman Dental Institute. He obtained his MSc in Orthodontics with distinction in 2007 having achieved distinctions in both academic and clinical areas. Angus also achieved the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007.

He undertook further training to become an Orthodontic Consultant at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth and Bristol Dental School achieving the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in Orthodontics in 2009. He then worked as an Orthodontic Consultant at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester and Worthing Hospital until 2013. Read more

Tom EOTom Weir – Practice Manager

Tom joined the practice in October 2015 as the new Practice Manager for Epsom & Guildford Orthodontics.
Tom’s previous experience includes 4 and a half years as a dual site practice manager in an NHS & Private dentistry setting.

Tom also has experience of international healthcare, before joining the practice he spent 6 months in Toronto, Canada, observing the Toronto General Hospitals Lung Transplant Program whilst acting as the primary care-giver for his uncle who had a successful lung transplant.

He is a qualified practice manager, having completed the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Dental Practice Management in 2012, whilst also having previous qualifications as an Advanced Personal Fitness Trainer.

In his spare time Tom enjoys maintaining a high standard of personal fitness, socialising with friends and family, following the ups and downs of Crystal Palace Football Club and playing for his local football team which he captains

Lauren Smoothy RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick) – Orthodontic Therapist GDC Registration 161075

Lauren joined the practice in 2006; prior to this she had been working in general practice for 6 years. During this time she trained and qualified to be a Dental Care Professional enabling her to be registered with the General Dental Council.
During her time with our practice Lauren has continued her professional development and gained further qualifications in;

•    Dental Radiography
•    Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing

In 2008 after completing a project case study completion with TOC Lauren achieved Orthodontic Nurse of the Year. Lauren has gone on to study at Warwick University Medical School and has been awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy. In her spare time Lauren enjoys going to the gym, horse riding and socialising with her friends and family.

Lauren, who qualified in 2011, was awarded the prize for the most outstanding Orthodontic Therapist student in her year.

Babsie Grobler, RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick) – Orthodontic Therapist

Babsie has been involved in orthodontics since 1998, and initially she spent time in the administration team at Guildford Orthodontics.

Since 2004, she has trained and qualified to be a Dental Care Professional enabling her to be registered with the General Dental Council. During her time at Guildford Orthodontics, Babsie has continued her professional development and gained further qualifications in:
•    Dental radiography
•    Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing

In 2011 Babsie went on to study at Warwick University Medical School and has been awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy. The Practice is very proud of her considerable achievements and this privileged role will enhance our service to patients.  Babsie is a busy working Mum with two delightful daughters and enjoys tennis in her spare time.

Babsie, was awarded the prize for the most outstanding Orthodontic Therapist student in 2012.

Christina Jones, RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick) – Orthodontic Therapist

We are very proud that Christina has been awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from The University of Warwick, in July 2014.

Christina has been with Guildford Orthodontics since 2009, during this time she has gained further qualifications in:

• Dental Radiography
• Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing

Christina has been in dentistry since 2002 and has experience in general dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, implants and orthodontics.

She is also a Mum to two lovely children who keep her quite busy.

Any spare time that Christina has is spent with her family, going on long walks and swimming.

Hannah Cain – Orthodontic Nurse

Hannah joined the Guildford team in May 2008. Hannah was a Dental Nurse in General Dentistry for 8 years and qualified as an Orthodontic Dental nurse 4 years ago. Hannah achieved her NVQ Level 3 in Oral Health & Dental Nursing, Dental Radiography, and Orthodontic Nursing and more recently has achieved certification to take Dental Impressions. Job satisfaction is from meeting new people and helping patients to achieve a great smile. Her free time is spent with her active sons.

002Zoe St John – Orthodontic Nurse

Zoe joined the Guildford team in September 2012 after working as a general dental nurse for 5 years.

Zoe has achieved her dental radiography and certification to take dental impressions. She recently gained her qualification in Orthodontic dental nursing studying at the Eastman Dental Hospital.

The rewards of Orthodontics for Zoe is helping patients and seeing their reaction to the difference orthodontic treatment makes to them.

 

 

lisaLisa Hornsby – Dental Nurse

Lisa began working as a dental nurse in 2007 and originally joined the Guildford team in May 2013, where she stayed with us for 18 months and rejoined again in September 2015.

During her time in Dentistry, Lisa also gained experience in Implants, endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics.

Whilst at Guildford Orthodontics Lisa achieved her dental radiography qualification to take dental impressions.

In her spare time she enjoys visiting her family and friends in North Yorkshire.
